Products include wheels, wheel assemblies, axles, transporters, furnace cars, Automated Guided Vehicles, dump buckets, mining equipment, locomotive and light rail equipment, and overland conveyance, to name a few.

Irwin is seeking an accomplished individual to work for the Industrial Sales Department and Sr. Vice President of Industrial Sales, and support the day-to-day estimating, proposal generation, and sales efforts of the business unit. This should be done while developing a sound understanding of the core products and services of the company.

This person will report to (and be trained by) the Sr. Vice President of Industrial Sales with the goal of developing an overall understanding of all core product lines and becoming an integral part of the sales team by providing a first-class customer service experience for existing and new customers. You must be able to function as part of a team and communicate between various internal departments as well as customers and be willing to contribute to our success by accomplishing related results as needed.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Interacting with customers and handling customer queries, delivery update requests and complaints in a timely and professional manner
  • Determine the quickest, most effective ways to answer a client’s questions
  • Support SVP of Industrial Sales with order processing / activities (setting up new customer accounts, preparing orders for data entry)
  • Support customers with preparation of order related documentation packages
  • Provide Tier 1 customers with weekly order update reports
  • Facilitate communication between customers and sales/engineering/shipping & receiving, etc., as needed.
  • Learn to assist in handling incoming sales calls and inquiries
  • Learn to identify customer’s needs and sales opportunities during incoming calls, and offer solutions and support
  • Learn “catalog standard” product lines and be able to articulate to customers
  • Following up on leads from sales campaigns, conferences, tradeshows, etc.
  • Provide inside sales & logistical support to the SVP Industrial Sales when SVP is traveling
  • Provide product and service information to new and existing customers
  • Work with purchasing, production and vendor base to expedite items critical to on-time completion of projects

Preferred Requirements and Qualifications:

  • A passion for customer service and being part of a great sales team
  • Ability to answer a high volume of calls and/or emails every day
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Patience, attention to detail and a can-do attitude
  • Excellent active listening skills and an aptitude for problem solving
  • Comfortable making cold calls and talking to new people all day
  • Possesses and energetic, outgoing and friendly demeanor
  • Able to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively
  • Willingness to learn and become an integral part of a 130 year old industry leading company
  • Excellent computer skills a must (MS Word, Excel, Teams, etc.)
  • Great Plains experience a plus!
  • Technical / Mechanical background or awareness a plus
  • A college degree is an asset buy not required for a solid candidate

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
